Power In Pink Launches A New Initiative

Following the success of a non-profit fashion show, Power In Pink Founder, Dafina Morris, launches a cause for women of color.

Goal & Objectives

  • Host My Sister's Keyp'her Kickback--an event in Prospect Park (Brooklyn, NY) that involves themed conversations (about careers, relationships and self awareness) among women of color,

  • Create an event to serve as a soft-launch for Power in Pink’s event company called, My Sister’s Keyp’her

BRVC Approach

On October 28, 2018, BRVC collaborated with non-profit organization, Power In Pink, to host #PowerInPinkFashionShowII--a celebration of women of color who have been impacted by breast cancer (see results here.)

After the fashion show's success, Power In Pink's Founder, Dafina Morris, felt inspired to support women of color through empowering, uplifting and intentional conversations. In July of 2019, we collaborated with Dafina and provided brand development, social & digital strategy, and event public relations & coordination to develop the pilot launch of My Sister's Keyp'her within 1-month.

My Sister's Keyp'her Kickback's purpose was to create a safe and intimate space for women of color (millennials to early 40s) to relax under the sun, and engage in activities that spark conversations about: balancing "trying to have it all" with self-care, uplifting one another and the power of networking/mentorship. Launching a new brand can be challenging, yet Dafina's purposeful mission combined with our strategic execution resulted in positive and memorable outcomes for attendees.

Overview of Scope of Work (non-exhaustive):

  • Identify My Sister's Keyp'her's brand values and mission in order to craft messaging

  • Craft a digital campaign around the pilot launch and event, as well as creating content and posting it on social media

  • Conduct influencer relations to raise awareness before, during and post event

  • Coordinate strategic partnerships and securing sponsors for the event; as well as creating sponsorship packages and marketing materials

  • Coordinate event logistics (i.e. run of show, location, set up and breakdown, budget, etc)

Impactful Results & Milestones

  • Had attendance from NYC influencers, bloggers & Youtubers: Quiana from Harlem Love Birds, Nellie from Brooklyn Active Mama, and Netta Woods (collective following of 32,000+)

  • Received sponsorship from Y7 Studio & Effie's Paper

  • An Instagram advertisement garnered 5,694 impressions (89% from the ad), 4,551 unique accounts and 32 visits to the RSVP link. The audience was 100% women, aged 25 - 34, located in New York

  • Brand promotion for the event garnered 9,000+ impressions on Instagram

  • Received 15 new newsletter subscribers
